چکیده

During the downslope long-distance movement of debris avalanches, particles interact with each other in various modes, by rolling, sliding and colliding other. transport, grains may undergo breakage, changing size shape. However, research on avalanches at grain scale remains limited, particular, evolution morphology different scales, from overall form down to surface roughness, runout distance. This paper investigates particle granite gravel during long distance travel using a rotating drum, Micro-Deval apparatus, together three-dimensional (3D) image analysis 3D laser scanner. The effects shape pore fluid (dry, saturated water or slurry) transport were investigated. It was found that while strong enough resist fragmentation could be induced inter-particle actions testing, corners edges became rounded, general roughness remained unaffected interactions. more angular grains, easier abraded interaction. change local roundness amplified water-saturated conditions suppressed slurry-saturated medium. viscosity fluid, rather than initial shape, critical controlling evolution.

Collision of multi-particle and general shape objects in a viscous fluid

The dynamics of particle–particle collisions in a viscous fluid are numerically investigated. A distributed-Lagrange-multiplier-based computational method in a solid-fluid system is developed and a collision strategy for general shape objects is presented. In earlier methods, a repulsive force is applied to the particles when their separation is less than a critical value and, depending on the ...

Survey of Multi-Scale Meshfree Particle Methods

A multiscale meshfree particle method is developed, which includes recent advances in SPH and other meshfree research efforts. Key features will include linear consistency, stability, and both local and global conservation properties. In addition, through the incorporation of Reproducing Kernal Particle Method(RKPM), standard moving least squares (MLS) enhancement and wavelet techniques, the me...

S shape of a granular pile in a rotating drum.

The shape of a granular pile in a rotating drum is investigated. Using discrete elements method (DEM) simulations we show that the "S shape" obtained for high rotation speed can be accounted for by the friction on the end plates. A theoretical model which accounts for the effect of the end plates is presented and the equation of the shape of the free surface is derived. The model reveals a dime...

Formation of Particle Clusters From Rotating Particle Chains

Wittbracht et al. [1] proposed a technique to assemble highly ordered monolayers of magnetic beads utilizing rotating magnetic fields. The magnetic beads align their magnetization with any applied magnetic field. As long as this field is homogeneous, the particles will only interact with each other. As their magnetic moments are all facing the same direction, they will attract each other if the...
